City of Charlack Police Department
History:
The City of Charlack started out a village which was named for the crossing streets of
St. Charles Rock Road and Lackland. Prior to the incorporation in 1945, the Village
had alternating patrols provided by three different Police agencies, St. Louis County,
St. Ann and Overland. In 1945, the Village was patrolled by Charlack's first own Sheriff
accompanied by 2 deputies. The Police Station for these three officers was located in
a 10 foot by 4 foot building located behind a gas station at the intersection of St.
Charles Rock Road and Lackland. In the late 1950's, the Village purchased a new City
Hall and Police Department from Mr. Bob Pingle, who was using the front of the building
as a grocery store and the rear of the building for his family home.
Current:
Our current Police Department employees eight full time officers, which include the
Chief, two Sergeants and 6 patrolmen. The Police Department also has 5 certified
reserve officers.
All of the officers have received their training from the St. Louis County and Municipal
Training Academy or from the Eastern Missouri Law Enforcement Training Academy.
Each officer continues to receive ongoing training from both of these Academies. Our
Police Department also belongs to several Law Enforcement organizations including
the Missouri Police Chiefs Association, the International Police Chiefs Association and
the North County Municipal Police Chiefs Association and the Major Case Squad.
The main goal of the Charlack Police Department is to continue to provide for its
residents, a safe environment to live, work and play.
